Description

It is a spiny shrub with many branches, growing in Romania starting from the sands and gravel areas near the sea and up to the mountain areas, sometimes making up coppices and shrubs which can be much extended.

Common sea buckthorn is used in the food industry, in forestry, in the pharmaceutical field and as an ornamental plant. The fruit of the common sea buckthorn contains two times more vitamin C than rose hip and 10 times more than citrus fruits.

Use

Cold pressed oil obtained from fruits has protective properties against ionizing radiations, restoring the capillaries, and nutritional and vitaminizing properties.

In the dermato-cosmetics field, through its complex action, it is used under the form of tea, syrup, oil or wine for protecting the skin and mucous membranes, for treating areas affected by burns, frost bites, for feeding and caring for the skin.
